You are all surrounded review

This was a huge disappointment. It has a great story background, great directing and a good cast but it didn't go anywhere near fantastic... why? ):

The Characters:
Lee Seung Gi as Kim Ji Young/Eun Dae Gu
Lee Seung Gi is a actor that is really familiar to me having to watch all his dramas(except his first one though), I LOVE every single one of his drama from the hilariously cute My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho to the family drama Brilliant Legacy but this was quite a disappointment, maybe partly due to my high expectations. I don't find Kim Ji Young/Eun Dae Gu a really well written character.... he was just a ordinary student but things changed for him when his mother gets killed and he witnessed it but didn't do anything ouch can you imagine the guilt he feels but well what could he have done? He will probably just get himself killed if he attempted to help. His mother got killed due to witnessing a crime and agreeing the police to become a witness although afraid that it will get herself and her child into trouble but agreed nevertheless as Seo Pan Suk( Cha Seung Won's character ) agreed to protect them but things turn wrong and........ so naturally Kim Ji Young develops a sense of hatred to those that led to her mother death and Pan Suk and he wants to find out the truth by getting near to Pan Suk by becoming a policeman in his team. Kim Ji Young aka Eun Dae Gu isn't a character with anything fantastic to praise or say about but he is a pretty strong character that is quite emotionless which is a complete opposite of his character from a lot of his other shows (I still have this cute hilarious impression of his character in King 2Hearts haha), Lee Seung Gi did the best he can as Kim Ji Young and Eun Dae Gu because honestly I don't think he is one of those drama male leads which will make female hearts flutter (I MEAN THE CHARACTER NOT LEE SEUNG GI OK) but Lee Seung Gi with his cutie attractiveness did save his character from being a boring character that I can't care more about.

Go Ah Ra as Uh Soo Sun
This is my first official time seeing Go Ah Ra in a project, I've previously tried watching Reply Me 1994 due to my love for Reply Me 1997 but it couldn't even finish halfway but Go Ah Ra certainly act well in 1994 so I was actually expecting more from her here. Go Ah Ra is famous for being one of the most prettiest actress around but I don't like her hairstyles in this show, I know she is suppose to be portraying a normal civilian and her prettiness will make her beyond normal but her hairstyles here are so plain that it's boring *yawn* Uh Soo Sun again isn't a really great character being reckless, fierce, careless but there's this passionate, compassionate side to her that makes her lovable. She and Kim Ji Young know each other since they were students but none of them realize each other's identity until some time later, Soo Sun started as a student gangster who is reckless and not seemly lovable at all but she ends up being a passionate police who tries her best to help others but her carelessness and recklessness leads to her causing a little more trouble instead.

Cha Seung Won as Seo Pan Suk
Can I change the subject and talk a little about the real Cha Seung Won? Haha sorry I just want to say how great of a person he is and how much he deserves respect and love. I think many will know that recently a man came out to sue him for raising his son as his own, so it was true and Cha Seung Won whom married extra early actually married his wife despite her having a son with another man in the past and he actually took care of the son like his own and solve his problems (his son is a huge troublemaker that caused quite a commotion some time ago by raping a girl urgh) Cha Seung Won's image was a little destroyed with that incident having people criticize him for not teaching his son properly. He treated his son like his own that even his son wasn't aware that Cha Seung Won isn't his real dad aww so he admitted to all these after getting sued but of course it just makes the world love Cha Seung Won even more and gain a larger respect for him.
Ok back to the drama sorry haha. Cha Seung Won acts really well and it's a known fact to everyone (just look at how well he portrayed his character in Greatest Love), can you actually believe that he is in his 40s? Sad to say Seo Pan Suk is nothing to rave about but he is the more memorable character out of the whole drama to me at least. Seo Pan Suk promised to protect our hero's mother and him but failed to do so when his son got killed due to him devoting a lot of time on them so he indirectly caused both the hero's mother death and his son's death ok that hurts. His wife hates him after the death of their child (I really mean hate ok haha she slaps him hard upon seeing him after many years), he of course live with heavy guilt due to the two deaths he indirectly caused. He is the leader of the team of rookie police and is fierce, upright, strict.

Eun Dae Gu (Lee Seung Ki), Uh Soo Sun (Go Ah Ra), Park Tae Il (Ahn Jae Hyun) and Ji Gook (Park Jung Min) - otherwise known as the P4 - are the new recruits in the violent crime unit at Gangnam Police Station. These rookies are neither enthusiastic nor passionate about their new jobs and have joined the crime squad for varying but unbefitting reasons. They are lead by an erratic and hot headed Seo Pan Suk (Cha Seung Won) who wants nothing more than to wash his hand off of the incompetent new recruits. This drama follows the journey of these young cops as they fumble, learn, fall in love and find their way to becoming people the citizens can trust.

    FROM DRAMAWIKI

personal comments: honestly the show biggest problem is the chemistry between the characters. The show can be instantly great and memorable with a rookie team that have much more chemistry or developed bromance but nope.... the chemistry between the main couple is 0, it's rare to see 0 chemistry but somehow Go Ah Ra and Lee Seung Gi have no chemistry at all. Lee Seung Gi relatively have great chemistry with his co stars from Han Hyo Joo to his noona Ha Ji Won but Go Ah Ra and him just seems wrong. Chemistry is a factor that cannot be controlled nor predicted, who would have expected even Yoona and Lee Bum Soo have pretty decent chemistry together? So this isn't anyone's fault sigh. The story could have been much much better but instead it took turns for the worse and ended up being a mess, the couple's relationship seems forced although it could have been great since the writer already connected them when they are young but nope, the writer focused too much on stuff she shouldn't and neglected those that are important. The cases in the story is also kinda boring... it could have been exciting and fun to watch but instead it went wrong and downhill.

IN CONCLUSION: a disappointment. Breaking my record by being the first Lee Seung Gi drama I don't love however it was still fun so watch with an open mind and lower expectations. Many people love this drama but maybe I don't because I was a little sensitive about many things.... still worth the watch when you have 20 hours to spare or just simply want to spend more time admiring Lee Seung Gi and Cha Seung Won (isn't it great how you can admire them both at once!!!?)

    Personal Ratings: 8/10
    How much it deserves: 8.5/10

p/s just to say I updated my koreanxtaiwan movies post with a short Miss Granny review ^^
