Miss Korea review

A drama with no super powers, no magic, no memory loss, no heirs *cough*, no bad hairstyle, no time travelling, no revenge, no talented musicians, no ghost, no mind reading, no noona romance, no gumiho, no spies, no flower boys just a few normal guys in their 30s trying to save their company by making a girl from their neighbourhood into miss korea.

Reasons why you should.... i mean MUST watch this >

The Characters:

Lee Yeon Hee as Oh Ji Young
I love our miss korea, wait love is an understatement, she isn't really likable upon first impression ( flirty, annoying ) but as the story goes on her positive traits such as brave, faithful, stupid at times when it comes to love ( its a positive trait to me haha ), protect the people she cares about, stands up for what she thinks is right, cute, determined, gorgeous, strong, don't get influence easily, hardworking. Oh Ji Young has become the women i aim to be in the future, i LOVE her character so much, i have never loved a female character so much :') She got hurt by our male lead ( Kim Hyung Joon ) in the past, yup he left her in the past and then suddenly he just comes back to her to beg her to try Miss Korea, she initially disagrees ( duhh who would agree to help an oppa that dumped you in the past and then comes back to you many years later when he is going bankrupt ), however ji young agreed in the end but with a plan to backstab him by working with another beauty salon but well he deserved it *rolls eye* Ji Young went back to him in the end, yup she's a little stupid but obviously she still loves him although he doesn't deserve her love ( he made himself worthy of her love later on though ). ok this is just some extra information on the front part of the drama which i just feel like mentioning haha, I have heard many horrible things about Lee Yeon Hee's acting in her last drama Phantom ( i'm planning to watch that after my exams ) but i personally watch her in Gu Family Book ( yes i know she's just a cameo but she acted in 2 episodes as mummy gumiho with the episodes focusing on her so it's good enough for me to remember her well ) and i think her acting there was ok, nothing fantastic but good enough to make me like her but in miss korea her acting is...... god i can't differ between her and her character Ji Young now, i love her and her acting and her character :*

Lee Sun Kyun as Kim Hyung Joon
The last time i saw him was in Coffee Prince as the likable second lead, he didn't leave me a deep impression ( although he was much good looking then oops ). Many people commented about having an old main lead, ( he's not exactly old, he's only 30+ ) but he has many wrinkles on his face *shrugs* but his still good looking haha. Kim Hyung Joon's character is likable initially but becomes unlikable ( when we know he dumped ji young due to the fact that she isn't good enough for him pshh ) but becomes likable again when he does so much quietly for ji young. Lee Sun Kyun portrays Hyung Joon well and manage to make his character a memorable one.

Lee Mi Sook as Ma Ae Ri
I love this women, she's the owner of Queen Beauty Salon also an ex Miss Korea that scouts for new miss korea and train them. She's hard and sassy on the outside but soft, compassionate, understanding, caring when she needs to be. Although Ji Young betrayed her, she didn't take it to heart and helps her *sometimes*, understands her and trained her well.

Lee Sung Min as Teacher Jung
He is not a teacher, his name is teacher....what haha. His actually a gangster whom doesn't get respected at all and is suppose to make the company pay up money but ends up being a big help in making Ji Young miss korea and falls in love with the professor of the company. His character is super unlikable in the beginning but after being together with the cosmetic company's employee and our main male lead, he changes himself and his life and becomes so likable that i'm actually amazed how the writer made his character so likable. I've watch Lee Sung Min previously in My Princess and King 2Hearts but i can't say his memorable but i will definitely remember him and his character.

Song Seon Mi as Ko Hwa Jung
Researcher at the cosmetic company. Once again, another character i love ( wait... i love every single character in this show *shrugs* ) She's beautiful in her way, cute, sassy, fierce, strong, forgiving, understanding. Song Seon Mi once again does a super good job, i've never seen her anywhere but i did see her with long hair on tv before and she looks superrrr pretty ( she looks pretty here too but her short hair.... )

Ko Sung Hee as Kim Jae Hee
Ji Young's competitor in Miss Korea, she is so perfect.... i love her character, although she isn't a really in the main cast, she's a developed character, gorgeous, beautiful, kind, smart, helpful, competitive ( in a good way ), hardworking. Ko Sung Hee is a rookie actress so i'm really surprised with her acting, will remember her for a long long time.

FROM DRAMAWIKI

I'm amazed by how any scriptwriter can make a story of a few ordinary people extraordinary. Although it started of slow and maybe a little boring but it starts to become so addicting that my eyes are glued to the screen when i watch, i smile whenever the characters smile, i cry when they cry. In conclusion stay until maybe episode 4? there are many people whom gave up in the front ( i enjoyed the front too though it gave me a little reply me 1997 feeling probably because it's set in the same year and about first love *kinda* too ).
The directing is great too, the makeup here is so perfect, i think i'm gonna try the makeup that Ji Young did haha. I love the outfits *the dresses* are so pretty i want them too T_T
The ost is good with addicting ballads hehe
IN CONCLUSION :
PERSONAL RATINGS: 10/10
QUALITY OF THE SHOW: 10/10
reason why this is so under rated + receive poor ratings: it was up against the super super popular you who came from the stars ( i actually like this better than you who came from the stars..... sorry sorry sorry ). DO GIVE THIS A TRY IT DESERVES MUCH MORE FOR IT'S GREAT ACTING, STORYLINE, FASHION, AMAZING CHARACTERS, DIRECTING
PS: SM entertainment produced this, yup a big surprise
If You Like This Drama Watch....
