Dedicating this whole post to you who came from the stars whom stole my tears and heart away.
I didn't want to post a picture of the poster nor the teaser cause its....... honestly i wanted to give this a skip when i saw the teaser which looks really corny and the poster that looks boring, super boring. I didn't know Jun Ji Hyun aka our leading lady until this show mainly because i don't really watch korea movies and she mainly acts in movies, I know Kim Soo Hyun aka leading man from Dream High, Moon Embracing The Sun and also the movie Secretly and Greatly but honestly i've never really like him nor the shows he acted in until this, ahhhhhhh the main otp couple looks super cute together *chemistry overload*yes i know jun ji hyun is married and kim soo hyun have a biggggg age gap with her ( 7 years ) but jun ji hyun looks super young for her age so 7 years doesn't matter at all. The only reason why i still give this a try is because of the big commotion over this show and also second lead, Yoo In Na, i've been a fan of Yoo In Na since Secret Garden so i'm really excited to see her back in dramaland.
THE CHARACTERS:
Kim Soo Hyun as Do Min-Joon
This is our alien, he looks good, have been on earth for 400 years, cold personality, eats alone, has super powers like time freeze, teleportation, super senses but doesn't use it to help people in need, kinda innocent at times until he met Chun Song Yi( Jun Ji Hyun ) and change because of her. His character isn't exactly interesting but with Chun Song Yi their couple moment are super fun to watch due to their opposite personalities haha. Kim Soo Hyun's acting was ok, but it wasn't until around halfway through the show that i find his acting really improved compared to his last few shows and i finally got attracted to both him and do min joon <3
Jun Ji Hyun as Chun Song Yi
She is really the most awesome female leading lady in dramaland. Instead of our usual innocent, quiet, depressed, kind and hardworking type of female lead we have a crazy but cute, noisy but funny, direct but not annoying, proud but still cute haha. Honestly i didn't ever think that i would like a female lead being proud and arrogant but Jun Ji Hyun as Chun Song Yi made me love her to bits ahhhhhh i love how she change after meeting Do Min Joon, i just love everything about her. Jun Ji Hyun's acting was awesomeeee, she made Chun Song Yi such a lovable character despite her many flaws also she's super gorgeous, how can a 32 year old woman look so good in every scene. Lastly i LOVE the clothes she wears in the show, this is probably the first time i see good fashion sense in the female lead throughout the whole show, i want Chun Song Yi's closet so badly now...
Yoo In Na as Yoo Se Mi
This isn't her first time acting as the antagonist ( Best Love ) but i don't ever seem to dislike her character in the drama. I actually like her character in the show, yup she's Chun Song Yi best friend at first but they ended up becoming frenemies and back to friends again. Again i like how they style her and her clothes in the show too, two characters with awesome dressing sense in a show? Yes please. Yoo In Na's acting isn't perfect but i still like her as Se Mi, So Yi Hyun (who are you, cheongdamdong alice, three days) was originally confirmed to act as Se Mi but i don't think she will be able to be Se Mi as well as Yoo In Na does so thank god they change it to Yoo In Na.
Park Hae Jin as Lee Hwi Kyung
The role was suppose to be given to Shin Sung Rok but he suffered a injury so he took the antagonist role which was suppose to be for Park Hae Jin. I love this role, not only lee hwi kyung is funny, cute, forgiving, nice, caring, rich and good looking, he is also one of the best second male lead in dramaland. I wish that the writer would give him more screen time and his story for the last episode but well it didn't happen.....
THE STORY AND DIRECTING:
I love the story line, it isn't laggy, boring, stupid instead if was so fun to watch and made me cry and laugh so much. Tbh i feel that this show is the continuous story of Gu family book which ended with the characters meeting a few hundred years later in the female lead's next life haha this show is about the main otp meeting again 400 years later which they didn't recognized each other at first (this is Song Yi's recreation so she doesn't remember anything about her past life). I've never watch the previous works of this writer, Park Ji Eun (You who rolled in unexpectedly, queen of housewives) so i didn't know what to expect but yup now she's in the list of my favourite writers and i'm already looking foward to her next show haha.
The directing was awesome and i love all the quirky epilogues at the end of each episodes. I LOVE how each shows end, also i love the mini interviews which make viewers understand the show better and idk i just love it ahhhhh. I also love how they decide to use flashbacks instead of spending 1-2 episodes on the past story.
Not only they use Heirs classic line said by Lee Min Ho, they got Suzy as a cameo being back to her dream high character which she acted with Kim Soo Hyun haha its super cute, Infinity challange is also use in the storyline when Song Yi made a mini rap parody of G dragon and Jung Hyung Don's song. super cute too cute.
IN CONCLUSION:
watch this show, you won't regret :')

Although Gu Family Book has a weak storyline and moderate directing, it has fantasy elements like You who came from the stars but instead of a alien male lead we have a gumiho( fox ). Like i said previously in the post, gu family book's storyline is like the past of the show ( the 400 years ago part when the past life of song yi got save by min joon ) because it pretty much ends when the two chracters meet again in the present during the female lead's next life, doesnt it sounds like you who came from the stars? Suzy and Lee Seung Gi leads this drama, written by the writer that wrote Baker King and director of Secret Garden.
- My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho
Yup Lee Seung Gi again. Written by the awesome writing duo, Hong Sisters (Greatest Love, Master Sun, Your Beautiful ) this show was one of my first korea drama and i love it. This involves a gumiho too but shin min ah aka the female lead is the gumiho instead of the male lead, this show made me laugh and cry the way you who care from the stars did and has many fantasy elements too yup so do give this a chance.
