history of a salaryman

i previously watched this show but gave up after a few episodes and then gave it a bad review but recently i felt bad for giving a show a bad review without even trying half of it and i am so glad i tried watching it again :') This show killed me in a good way inside out, i am so in love with it i can't even stop watching for days, i even re read the recaps and some cute moments of each episode, this show certainly shot up to be one of my top three favorite dramas together with gaskital and master's sun. This is my definition of perfection, making a serious theme so entertaining and funny at the same time, i seriously have no idea why i even gave up on the show in the first place (lesson learnt to never give a review without trying even half of the show)

THE CHARACTERS

Jung Ryo Won as Baek Yeo Chi
Round of applause for making a super flawed character so freakin lovable, i love how much she grow as the story goes on, and after she starts falling for somebody whom she probably won't even get close to. She has a talent for saying vulgarities really smoothly in korean and english haha as much as this is a big flaw of hers, its cute. She has the bad attitude like Yoon Eun Hye in My Fair Lady and the diva-ness of Jun Ji Hyun's character in You Who Came From The Stars but still she has a super unique trait that none of them have that makes Yeo Chi special and a unforgettable character. Jung Ryo Won did a great job as Yeo Chi, Yeo Chi isn't a easy character to portray but urgh she made Yeo Chi so alive and i can't imagine anyone else as Yeo Chi. (Lee Min Jung was offered the role before)

Lee Bum Soo as Yoo Bang
Yoo Bang is a really hilarious character and although Lee Bum Soo isn't your typical super attractive tall kinda male lead in dramas, he made Yoo Bang even more attractive and will probably leave a huge impression to everyone that ever watched this. Yoo Bang started of as an odd job worker but ended up as the boss and i have to admit, i love how this show made this process so believable and makes you feel like anything is possible to achieve.

Jung Gyu Woon as Choi Hang Woo
He is kinda the antagonist but it's impossible to dislike him (ironically i fell in love with them). Hang Woo is a guy that wants to take revenge for his father's death thus wants to destroy Yeo Chi's grandfather company and in the process met Woo Hee and as much as he only wants to use her he ends up falling deeply in love with her. He wanted to gave up on revenge after falling in love with her but things happen and yup he continued doing all the bad stuff that makes him sometimes unworthy of Woo Hee but well is hard to not love how he can become a shy little boy in front of Woo Hee. Jung Gyo Woon did a fantaaaastic job as Hang Woo he has great facial expression, and made Hang Woo one of my all times favorite antagonist character.

Hong Soo Hyun as Cha Woo Hee
I OFFICIALLY HAVE A HUGE FEMALE CRUSH ON BOTH HONG SOO HYUN AND HER MARVELOUSLY FANTASTIC CHARACTER WOO HEE. She made mistakes in the beginning but she ended up being the my all time favorite second female lead (together with Gakital's second lead). She is cute and pretty and she knows it well enough so she doesn't need any guy to give her a makeover and she knows how to make herself attractive which is a super plus point. She is honest, brave and she is the miracle in Hang Woo's life, she changed him and made him give up doing mean stuff but she even paid for his mistakes having to be in danger because of him. Hong Soo Hyun did a excellent job, she is so pretty and she made an awesome character even better. :')

THE COUPLES

Hang Woo and Woo Hee couple
They easily make it into my favorite drama couples, although they are only the secondary couple the drama made their loveline more attractive than the main couple which is rare for a drama but i love it. I love the way he looks at her, i can literally see the words love in his eyes, the way he secretly do cute stuff for her and then smiles at the thought of her. She in return also paid for his mistakes, it's like she getting the karma for something he have done but she never hated him for it, she love him enough to go through stuff she don't deserve because she love and understand him. Their little bickering and flirting are so cute ahhhh they have excellent chemistry together, i even saved all the episodes with their cute moments together. Sadly Jung Gyu Woon is married in real life recently, or else i will probably ship this couple to be together in real life badly cause they are just so cute together )-:

Yoo Bang and Yeo Chi couple
In case you are wondering they do not have a single kiss scene in the show but i was actually satisfied without a kiss because the secondary couple was super well developed so yup it pays back. Yeo Chi grows up a lot with Yoo Bang so it was super cute to see them scolding each other and how Yeo Chi secretly helps Yoo Bang when she is not someone whom will actually help others. Jung Ryu Won and Lee Bum Soo are a weird pair but it actually works well surprisingly, thumbs up to the writer for making this couple an interesting and make their contrast in personality so well paired.

THE STORY AND DIRECTING

Synopsis

One night Yoo Bang (Lee Bum Soo) enters a dark, mysterious villa with nothing but a flashlight, only to find an executive of the Chunha Medical Group, Ho Hae slouched in a chair, dead and Jin Ho Hae's niece, Yeo Chi (Jung Ryu Won) hiding behind a curtain. At Ho Hae's funeral, Yoo Bang and Yeo Chi are suddenly taken into custody for his murder. We're taken three months into the past to reveal what led to this murder and exactly who was responsible. During this flashback we meet Choi Hang Woo (Jung Gyu Woon), a director from Ho Hae's rival pharmaceutical company, who is undercover to steal the formula for their new drug and the Chief Researcher from Chunha Group, Cha Woo-Hee (Hong Soo Hyun). The lives of these individuals will all be intertwined within these three months to reveal exactly just who murdered Ho Hae, and why.

Personal Comments: The writers(a married couple) is beyond fantastic, it's rare that a drama with a serious theme can be so funny, smart and interesting at the same time. The characters are also flawed in a good way that makes the characters all lovable( there are such characters really worth mentioning too but i am too lazy to write today so probably will update some other time), the story was also consistent as it was never boring throughout the 22 episodes. The ending is beyond perfect, probably the best ending in dramaland *no spoilers* I feel tempted to give the writer's Incarnation Of Money and Empress Ki a try after watching this, i love the writing style of this writer so yup i am willing to endure 50 episodes of a sageuk.
I LOVE THE ENDING ANALOGUES!!!  It gives a different feeling from You Who Came From The Stars analogues, not saying any of the analogues are bad, they are both good but manage to give out a different kind of vibe.

IN CONCLUSION
Not suitable for drama beginners though as the themes are not really suitable if you do not understand korea's culture enough but it IS A MUST WATCH. Watch this and you won't regret it, this show will certainly stay in my heart for a looooooooong time, the way gaskital did :')

Personal Ratings: 10/10
Quality Of The Show: 10/10
