bride of the century review

keeping up the ghost trend in dramas, this was different from Master Sun and Who Are You although it has a similar theme on ghost. I initially wasn't planning to watch this show because as much as i know the main leads, Yang Jin Sung and Lee Hongki from their past dramas, they didn't exactly appeal to me and well the story of a magic bracelet sounded hmmm not so appealing either haha (sorry i have a poor range of vocabulary) I thoroughly enjoyed the first few episodes but it started going downhill for me, maybe its because of the fantastic reviews and comments of this show that made me expect a lot more than what it has to offer so i felt really disappointed towards the end *shrugs*

THE CHARACTERS

Yang Jin Sung as Na Doo Rim/Jang Yi Kyung
She was beyond AMAZING in this drama, i have previously watched Yang Jin Sung in City Hunter ( she was nana's bodyguard friend and Lee Kwang Soo's partner ) and in Secret Love as the poor ex girlfriend whom got forgotten really fast but her roles in those shows were way too small to notice how amazing her acting is, she acted as two characters in the show (both the antagonist and protagonist is by her) and she did the roles justice, i almost forgotten they are acted by the same person. Her character was pretty well written too, Doo Rim (protagonist) is really positive and well liked female lead although i have to admit she has many traits of the typical drama female lead's trait. Yi Kyung is a pretty typical antagonist but Yang Jin Sung's portray of this 2 roles makes the character unique and alive. I have to see Yang Jin Sung as the main lead in her next project, she really deserves a main role having to be acting in mini roles until having to clinch this role.

Lee Hong Ki as Choi Kang Joo

It took me 4 years to fall in love with Lee Hong Ki, my first kdrama was Your Beautiful 4 years ago and Lee HongKi acted as the super lovable Jeremy but as much as i love the character i didn't fall in love with Lee HongKi but well things changed when i watch him here, i can't say his acting was fantastic but it was good enough and cute (his acting was never terrible anyway). Choi Kang Joo is a super lovable character, as much as he has the typical kdrama cold, rich, proud, handsome element he was still unique ( LOOK AT THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HER IN THE PICTURE !!! ) And i have to mention this: Lee HongKi's voice is soooooooo good, it gives me chills when i listen to him sing the ost.

The writing was good but there's a major flaw that spoiled this drama, I CAN'T FEEL THE LOVE BETWEEN THE LEADS. There was sizzling hot chemistry between the leads but the writer didn't develop on how they even fall in love, it's like one day suddenly you wake up and you are like oh i am in love with her and you go around chasing her. (am i the only one that feels this way....?)
The story also went downhill in the middle, but the front and back was good so...... i still really hope for the writer to develop the love, it's a drama surrounding the theme love isn't it?
The directing was good so yup it's visually pretty.

IN CONCLUSION
It's alright but nothing near fantastic but i have to admit maybe it's only to me as there are others that love this show to bits but whatever it is watch this with low expectations. My mistake is to watch it with super high expectation thus i get disappointed easily.
